Most multi-color integrated PLCC LEDs on the market use epoxy resin as the packaging material due to cost considerations. However, epoxy resin has poor heat resistance, is prone to yellowing, and experiences high stress, easily leading to wire breakage. Therefore, its lifespan is shorter in outdoor applications. While silicone material is more expensive, the technology for bonding it to PLCC is also more challenging than with epoxy resin. Improper handling can easily lead to delamination between the silicone and the PLCC. Therefore, ProLight Technology has developed a new nano-adhesive material that acts as a bonding medium between the silicone and the PLCC, strengthening the adhesion and preventing delamination, resulting in a longer lifespan. Furthermore, due to the excellent weather resistance, heat resistance, and high barrier properties of silicone, it can block moisture. The elasticity of the silicone also protects the gold wires from breaking due to external forces, making it particularly suitable for use in harsh outdoor environments.
ProLight applies this packaging technology to outdoor lighting LED products, launching 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 LEDs in its PLCC LED series, capable of withstanding 1000 cycles of thermal shock.
