Amsterdam, Netherlands – September 3, 2025 – Lumileds’ new Luxeon LED HL1Z color series is a high-power chip-scale package (CSP) combination featuring 10 direct and phosphor-converted colors, sharing the same focal length and package. These LEDs utilize small color boxes and narrow forward voltage slots, providing better color uniformity, improved efficiency and thermal management, and more consistent performance under operating conditions.
1. Superior Color Mixing
Topless 1.4mm x 1.4mm emitters deliver the highest emission light. Top emission, with or without optics, prevents cross-fading or interference between different colors, resulting in better control over the final light and color. Their extremely small size, high current capability, and 85ºC splitting capability enable higher-density arrays in a smaller space, placed below single or multiple optics.
2. Color, CCT Tuning, or Color Adjustable
With direct coloring, fluorescent conversion colors, unique and unsaturated Fusion colors, and the Luxeon LED HL1Z white light combination, it’s easier than ever to create a single solution that provides both color and high-quality white light with a CRI well over 90, and can even be specifically tuned for dynamic lighting for interior design and even interior design-specific lighting.

3. Driven by Application Needs
Driven by Lumileds’ continuous expansion of its color portfolio, not just by technical feasibility, but because each Luxeon LED Color series meets different application goals. For example, the new LUXEON HL1Z color emitter is only one-sixth the size of the LUXEON 2835 color emitter, but has three times the power. For entertainment, focal points, and many other applications with strong color dependencies, the LUXEON HL1Z will be the only solution that is both cost-effective and high-performance. Of course, for many strip and linear applications, the LUXEON 2835 will continue to offer the best value option on the market.
4. Lumileds CSP Innovation
Lumileds engineers pioneered CSP technology in 2013 with the company’s LUXEON flip chip and have continued to develop it over the past 12 years. Lumileds’ CSP LEDs require no additional sub-supports or substrates, are smaller than comparable LEDs of the same size, and can be directly connected to secondary boards. LUXEON CSP LEDs are particularly useful in directional applications, offering better thermal contact, higher current density, extremely high reliability, excellent long-term color stability, and easy surface-mount assembly with standard equipment.
