With Apple’s planned introduction of Mini LED panels, Mini LED backlight panels have become a focus of attention in the LED industry. Mini LED backlight modules offer a key advantage over existing LED backlight modules: they can significantly improve screen contrast and resolution, revolutionizing LCD displays. The key technology for enhancing contrast and resolution lies in dimming zones. Due to the small size of Mini LEDs, they can be divided into hundreds or even thousands of dimming zones. In terms of color quality, OLED panels have historically outperformed LED panels. However, when white mini LEDs are combined with KSF phosphors, their color rendering is now comparable to OLEDs. This is because KSF phosphors are characterized by a very narrow half-wavelength (HWH) of their emission spectrum and high energy, significantly increasing the color gamut coverage of LCD displays to 95%. However, KSF phosphors are generally not resistant to moisture, so good packaging technology is crucial for improving reliability. ProLight’s mini LED packaging technology utilizes a highly airtight adhesive developed in collaboration with a major Japanese raw material manufacturer. This seals the chip and phosphor while maintaining high luminescence efficiency and extending the lifespan.
