Seoul Semiconductor’s LED package has achieved a world-leading luminous efficacy of 210 lm/W, the highest luminous efficacy of a single LED package globally.

Seoul Semiconductor Co., Ltd., a world-class LED manufacturer, announced that its Acrich MJT 5630D package, suitable for incandescent, fluorescent, and other luminaires, has achieved a world-leading luminous efficacy of 210 lm/W, the highest luminous efficacy of a single LED package globally. Mass production of this LED package has commenced.

Seoul Semiconductor provides 5630 LED packages (5.6 mm wide, 3.0 mm long) for the lighting and IT sectors, and its products are widely recognized as representative of mid-power LEDs. The most significant feature of the newly released MJT 5630D+ LED package is its use of Seoul Semiconductor’s Multi Junction Technology (MJT) LED chips, achieving a world-leading luminous efficacy of 210 lm/W.

The company has begun mass production of the new LED package. Lighting applications should achieve a minimum lighting efficiency of 200 lm/W, and LED packages should achieve a minimum lighting efficiency of 220 lm/W. The report proposes a strategy to improve converter performance to reduce the efficiency and lifespan of existing LED bulbs, and suggests expanding the use of AC LEDs and high-voltage LEDs as a strategy to improve LED lighting efficiency. Seoul Semiconductor’s Acrich drive technology and ACRICH multi-electrode technology align with the AC and high-voltage technologies described in the U.S. Department of Energy report and are widely recognized as the best solutions to address the problems of high defect rates and short-lifespan converters.
